Unitalen (Foshan) Holds IPR Lecture for Enterprises
On November 26 Unitalen’s Foshan Affiliate organized a lecture on “IPR Misconceptions and Strategies for Enterprises” for about 280 representatives of Foshan City companies. China’s prominent intangible property expert, brand name advisor and Unitalen’s Director for the South China Region Haiding Zhang was specially invited to take part at the event. Drawing upon their experience, the expert analyzed some of the current IPR problems and misconceptions of South China Sea Region companies, and offered valuable professional advice in respect of IPR strategies application.

As explained, intellectual property mainly consists of trademarks, patents, design patents and copyrights. In developed countries, these often constitute 50% of companies’ total assets, whereas China’s figures reach just 20%, and South China Sea Region’s – 2%. According to Haiding Zhang, many Chinese enterprises are still lagging behind on IPR awareness, and many others are also lacking in IPR protection knowledge. Although some companies have patents, they still do not know how to use legal weapons to protect themselves against infringement.

This lecture was highly appreciated by the participating companies, who availed themselves of the opportunity to personally meet and carry out discussions with the IPR expert. As expressed, everyone appreciated the simple explanations to the complicated problems and the prospects to further accomplish their development goals.
